Chairman Wontumi’s counsel appeals to court to haul Afia Schwarzenegger over freedom violation
The counsel of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling NPP Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has called on the Tema High Court to drag socialite Afia Schwarzenegger to the Court once again for violating her freedom requirement not to comment on the defamatory case between herself and Chairman Wontumi on any social media for 36 months.
Afia Schwarzenegger together with Fadda Dickson Narh, Felicity Nana Ama Agyeman, aka Empress Nana Ama Mcbrown, Kwame Asare Obeng, alias Kwame A Plus and Emmanuel Barnes alias Mr. Logic was dragged to Court by Chairman Wontumi in December for the defamatory case.
Afia Schwarzenegger and the four others together with UTV were cited for contempt based on a discussion programme they held on the United Showbiz show in which Afia claimed she has slept with Chairman Wontumi and he farts when he is ejaculating.
Chairman Wontumi after dragging the five to Court, an arrest warrant was placed on Afia Schwarzenegger who was to spend 10 days in prison and was to pay an amount of GH¢60,000 in addition.
The legal team of Afia Schwarzenegger led by Adrian Duke Amaning on December 20, 2022, appeared at the Tema High Court to present themselves to the Court for the first time because at the time Chairman Wontumi filed the lawsuit, Afia wasn’t in the country.
Later on, Afia and her legal team approached the Court for the second time whereby she pleaded and vowed not to tarnish any citizen’s image on any media platform.
On January 17, 2023, the Tema High Court arraigned Afia Schwarzenegger in Court for a final verdict on her case against Chairman Wontumi after which the Court agreed to pardon her on a condition.
The Court ordered her never to comment on the alleged sexual allegation story that led to the legal suit between herself and Wontumi on any media platform including her social media platforms.
Moreover, the court directed that any breach of the orders will warrant her being dragged before a court.
This order, according to Wontumi’s counsel has been violated by Afia Schwarzenegger as the group alleged the convict couldn’t obey the restriction on her communication on social media.
“The counsel for and behalf of the applicant herein will move this honorable court for an order praying the honorable court to punish the respondent herein for continuing contempt arising from respondent violation and disobedient to the terms of the judgment of this court,” part of a new court document stated.
Meanwhile, the controversial socialite Afia Schwarzenegger has not reacted to the latest phase of the saga.
