CEO of Sky Oil Filing station shot dead in Ashanti Region

The Chief Executive Officer of Sky Oil filling station, Alhaji Abubakar Saddick, has been shot dead by unknown assailants.

The incident happened on Wednesday night when armed men stormed the fuel station at Asuadei in the Ahafo Ano Southeast District of the Ashanti Region.

The 62-year-old victim died on arrival at the Mankranso Government Hospital, Citi FM reported.

In a wave of gun violence in the country’s second-most populated city, Kumasi, at least two people have been confirmed dead as armed robbers unleash violence on Wednesday and Friday.

According to the police, four unknown armed men went to the filling station at about 5:30 pm on Wednesday and carried out the operation.

Police have begun investigations into the incident that has thrown the entire community into a state of shock and mourning.

The Mankranso District Police Commander, Superintendent Richard Boahen, confirming the incident said: “Abubakar Saddick was attacked and shot by three unidentified gunmen at a filling station and made away with an unspecified amount of money.”

“The victim, aged 63, was rushed to Mankranso hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.”

Even though no arrest had been made, he assured that the culprits would face the law.

“So far, we don’t have enough evidence, but we are still on it. We are taking our time to do a good investigation which will lead us to arrest the real culprits.”

Eulogising the departed oil dealer, the District Chief Executive of Ahafo Ano Southeast District, Agyemang Dapaah, said “Abubakar Saddick’s death does not only affect his immediate family but the whole community…. this man feeds a lot of families in this community. So, the district will also miss him; he is always ready to support the district”.

According to him, the District Security Council (DISEC) had intelligence that armed robbers were preparing to strike.

“I have called for an emergency DISEC meeting because armed robbing is increasing in our district…not too long ago the district BNI told us armed robbers were preparing to strike in the district. I have hopes that the culprits will be arrested” he assured.

Recent happenings in the Ashanti Region

Recently, a Chinese National was shot by unknown gunmen at Atinga junction in Kumasi on Tuesday, October 20, 2020.

The victim was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

According to an eyewitness, the Chinese visited a shop to purchase a credit voucher with some colleagues when he was attacked by some unknown gunmen who were on motorbikes.

In a similar incident, a 36-year-old Maxwell Ahetor was killed by some unknown gunmen on Monday morning.

    Let us dispatch the military please. Arm Robbers are taking us for granted. The military will act swiftly and these nonsense will stop. The police is not doing enough. Please please please let us dispatch the military in the night starting from 10pm.

    Even President Trump brought in the Military in the wake of the BLM protest of George Floyd, which is even not a threat, let a lone armed thieves terrorizing our peace. What are we waiting for, these misfits are wasting valuable lives,

    Let us descend hard on them please. We should start finishing them before they finish us.
