Ghanaian musician Elom Adablah, popularly known as E.L., has encouraged his colleagues to use their influence to cause a positive change in Ghana.

E.L.’s comment follows the countless reactions of celebrities after the arrest of demonstrators on September 21 during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration.

The ‘Mi Na Bo Po’ hitmaker, in an interview on the second day of the protests, condemned the brutality meted out to the protesters who were demanding solutions to Ghana’s problems.

He explained that he couldn’t join the demonstration on the first day, but the severity of hardship and bad governance in the country motivated him to join.

“Yesterday was impromptu for me, but I guess it is better late than never. I am a Ghanaian, and I tend to travel a lot. Whenever I come to Ghana, I realize that things are not the same in terms of the economy and everything. I am getting worried about the generation to come, my children and everyone, and I hope things change. It is up to us, the celebrities, the people, to up our boots, and I believe we have the power to change things”, E.L. said.

He added, “The arrest was outrageous and shouldn’t be encouraged in a democratic state, but these things happen for people to know the depth of the problem we have now. They[protesters] have the right to demonstrate. No police or authority has the right to stop the people from demonstrating, and I think since that has happened, it will give more incentive to people to actually come out and to voice out their concern about the bad nature of things”.

The award-winning musician further encouraged Ghanaian leaders to have a renewal of mindset in order for progress in the country.

Other celebrities who have joined day two of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration are Kelvyn Boy and Efia Odo.
