CDS commissions new pharmacy at Burma Camp
The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, has commissioned an ultra-modern pharmacy at the Burma Camp, Accra.
According to the CDS, the decision to construct a new pharmacy at the Arakan Barracks was part of measures to solve troops’ challenge of having easy access to drugs and boost the number of health facilities in the barracks.
He remarked that the pharmacy was expected to handle all health needs of troops, their families and the general public.
He noted that it was only when troops were in good health that they could effectively carry out their duties to protect the territorial integrity of the
country.
He further disclosed that the pharmacy would liaise with Forces Pay Regiment to ensure families of personnel who were on external duties could get access to drugs on credit and later deducted from the source.
The CEO of the pharmacy, Dr Paulus Adu-Hene, while expressing his excitement on the completion of the project, disclosed that the facility would run a 24-hour service within the week.
He added that the facility would also run services like Ultrasound, Echo Cardiogram,
Electrocardiography, Pregnancy Ultrasound Scan, Prostate Ultrasound, Breast & Neck Ultrasound, Abdominopelvic Ultrasound, Transvaginal ultrasound, Transcranial ultrasound, Doppler studies, and Echocardiography.
There would also be a herbal centre that will provide comprehensive herbal products to the public.
The Pharmacy, which is the first to be established in Accra, is owned by Dr Paulus Adu-Hene, Mr Kwesi Sarfo Boakye and Mr Emmanuel Attah Ackah.
Present at the ceremony were the service chiefs, senior military officers and other important dignitaries.
