Catholic Priest hails Bawumia for his show of tolerance after he showed up to mourn with NDC’s Adongo
A senior clergy of the Roman Catholic Church in Ghana, Rev Fr Lawrence Azure, has praised Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for his show of leadership in political tolerance and national cohesion.
According to him, the Vice President has taken “politics to a new level’ when he led a team of government and NPP officials to mourn with National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament, Isaac Adongo.
Mr Adongo, the NDC’s voice on economic issues and an ardent critic of the Vice President buried his mother on Saturday, December 28, 2019.
In a brief sermon, Fr Azure said the Vice President’s presence at the funeral was a clear indication of political maturity.
“Who would have thought or believed that Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia would attend the funeral of the man who has been attacking him?
“This clearly shows that politics is a contest of ideas, not fights and bloodshed. Vice President Bawumia has taken politics to a new level” he stressed.
The funeral, which was held in Bolga, was attended by hundreds of mourners from all sides of the political divide including former President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s Flagbearer for the 2020 elections.
