Carlos Ahenkorah admits visiting registration centres despite testing positive for COVID-19
The Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Carlos Ahenkorah has admitted he visited some voter registration centres despite testing positive for COVID-19.
The Tema West MP was seen at some registration centres on the first day of the voter registration exercise.
Pictures of his visit went viral on social media after the media reported he had been admitted at the Korle bu teaching hospital.
But reacting to his visit to the centres at a time he knew his COVID-19 status, the MP said he did not think his visit could endanger the lives of others at the centres.
“I decided to see how some of the centres were just operating. So I stepped out into town a bit. It didn’t mean I couldn’t go out. My test results had shown I was positive a week ago and after one week, my doctors said I could step out,” he said in an interview on Asempa FM monitored by theghanareport.com.
“They (doctors) said I could go out except that I needed to wear my mask and observe social distancing,” he added.
On Asempa FM political talkshow where he was interviewed, Carlos Ahenkorah was asked whether his decision to move around a public space put others at risk.
“That would be speculative”, he said.
Mr. Ahenkorah justified his action, explained that people would have wondered his whereabout if he had continued to stay indoors without stepping out during the voter registration exercise.
“I can assure you that I’m a very careful person and I was very mature about it,” he said.
the last paragraph sounds stupid and immature,,,,,,,i don’t even know what past through the heads of our leaders
Idiots parading as leaders
So we appoint this goat too as a minister?
These are the “leaders” you are dying for
Though it was a wrong move I don’t think he should be lambasted. Frankly speaking ndc person would also hv done dat
Hmm, special doctors for Ghanaian politicians with cocid-19 protocols different from the WHO and the general population? The minister should be arrested and prosecuted because the laws are not only for the poor
Anne you said “NDC would have” but have they? Let’s not justify his stupid action. His isolation should have even been 2wks not 1wk as he claimed his stupid doctor also claimed advised he could step out. One rule for the decent Ghanaian public another for the stupid unruly politicians.
You should take politics out and address the issue at hand
This is not about NDC or NPP. If something’s wrong, it’s wrong. Now’s the time to rise above partisanship, spurn what is odious, and do what is right to make our country a better place.
That he went to registration centres, fully aware of his Covid-19 status, is completely unacceptable.
Come again
Because NDC person would have done some so ot makes it right ??
Stop the shit politics! This is a national issue, if they our leaders keep telling us to stay at home then, how come a whole minister of state upon knowing his health status concerning the covid-19 jump into town like a mad dog????
