Callum Hudson-Odoi left out of England Squad, Ghana switch still possible

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been left out of England’s squad for the upcoming international break, despite his hopes of earning a recall.

The Nottingham Forest winger had expressed optimism about returning to the Three Lions setup in an interview but was not included in the latest squad for the games against Albania and Latvia in World Cup qualifiers.

Hudson-Odoi, who last played for England in 2019 at the age of 19, previously stated that he was taking his chances “game by game” and would let his performances dictate his international future.

“I’m taking it game by game. No matter what happens, whether I get picked or not, I just have to keep performing and stay consistent. That will take care of itself,” he told Rio Ferdinand on TNT Sports.

His continued absence from the England squad keeps the door open for a potential switch to Ghana, a possibility that has been discussed since 2022.

Having played fewer than three competitive matches for England before turning 21, he remains eligible to represent the Black Stars if he chooses to switch allegiance.

Hudson-Odoi has been one of Nottingham Forest’s standout players this season, contributing five goals and two assists. His impressive performances, including match-winning goals against Liverpool and Manchester City, have fueled speculation about his international future.

With Ghana in need of attacking reinforcements for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the prospect of him joining the Black Stars remains an intriguing option.
