CAF postpones 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Black Stars and their Sudanese counterpart has been postponed indefinitely because of growing concerns over the coronavirus spread.
The Black Stars were due to host the Falcons of Jediane in Cape Coast on March 27 and travel for the return fixture in Sudan in three days.
But Africa’s football governing body has tossed the game into the freezer as fears grow over the spread of the deadly contagious virus.
Across the globe, many sports associations have suspended competitive sporting activities to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID -19), recently declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
CAF has rescinded its earlier decision to carry on with the round of matches at the various centres in Africa because most of the players scheduled to play in the qualifiers are expected to come from some highly affected countries.
Already, some footballers, coaches and administrators in England, Italy and Germany have been infected with the virus.
CAF is expected to announce new dates for the various rounds of qualifiers soon.
