CAF CL: Samartex arrive in Cameroon for Victoria United showdown

Ghana champions Samartex have arrived in Cameroon for their CAF Champions League preliminary round game against Victoria United this weekend.

The Timber giants touched down in Douala on in the early hours of Thursday morning ahead of their game against Cameroonian outfit slated for Sunday, August 18, 2024.

They will head to their hotel before a shake up exercise later in the day. They will train for two days before the much-anticipated clash against Victoria United.

Samartex will be hoping for a favorable result in the first leg before the return fixture in Ghana as they seek to make it to the next round of the qualifiers.

The Sameraboi-based club will host Victoria United in the second leg at the Accra Sports Stadium following CAF’s approval.

The Ghanaian champions are representing Ghana for the first time in the CAF elite competition after emerging as champions in the recently concluded Ghana Premier League season, dethroning Medeama.

The winner of the tie between the Ghanaian outfit and Victoria United will progress to the second preliminary round where they potentially face Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic for a place in the group stages.
