Egyptian giants Al Ahly emerged as winners of the 2022/23 CAF Champions League competition after beating Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca in the two-leg fixture final.

Al Ahly secured an important stalemate in the second leg against the Moroccan outfit at the Stade Mohamed V Stadium on Sunday to clinch the prestigious trophy.

Attiyat Allah opened the scoring for the home side at the 27th-minute mark and went to recess with a one-goal lead.

After the break, the visitors lifted their performance and were awarded an equaliser in the 78th minutes courtesy of a header by Mohammed Abdelmonem from an Ali Maaloul corner.

Both teams could not find the winning goal hereby pushing the much-anticipated game to a 1-1 draw at the end.

The result after 90 minutes means Al Ahly reaffirms their status as the continent’s champions with a 3-2 aggregate win after securing a 2-1 win over Wydad Casablanca in the first-leg tie in Alexandria.
