C/R: Two arrested over shooting incident that left NPP members injured

Police in the Central Region have arrested two persons believed to be behind the shooting incident that left some New Patriotic Party members and the Assemblyman for the Assin Aworoso Electoral area Daniel Owusu, injured.

The two arrested are Peter Essel, 43, and Koku Yevu, 45.

According to the Central Regional Police Command, a locally manufactured gun with one live BB 0.32G bullet was retrieved from the suspects.

Speaking to Citi News in an interview, DSP Irene Oppong, the Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer explained that both suspects were arrested by the Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command and are currently assisting the police in their investigation.

“The two suspects namely Peter Essel and Koku Yevu are in Police custody and will assist the Police in their investigation,” DSP Irene Oppong said.

It could be recalled that on Sunday, August 25, 2019 after some members of the New Patriotic Party in Assin Aworoso Electoral were done with a party meeting, some unknown gunmen fired shots at the party members injuring the Assemblyman for the area while several others sustained gunshot wounds.

“Those who sustained gunshot wounds were sent to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu for treatment,” DSP Irene Oppong recounted.
