The Adako Jachie Stadium in Ashanti region is associated with Kumasi Asante Kotoko football club. Originally, the space is designated for the club’s own stadium.
Latest pictures of the place show only the rudimentary stages of the future facility, with the entire arena covered in weeds, and depicting a structure that is anything but a pale shadow of intended purpose.
Grapevine reports indicate that the hint about a suggested visit to Adako Jachie by the Life Patron of Kotoko, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has swung some people into brisk action of weed clearance, an impromptu gig to tidy up for the rumored visit.
The Asantehene had recently made new appointments to the club after dissolving the management and the board. He expressed reservations at the poor run of the club in all outings, and personally took charge of reforms.
Prosper Ogum has been named as the new coach, with the Board chairman being Mr. Kwame Kyei. The Asantehene has also decided to pay off a 3 million cedi debt in a raft of radical measures to improve the club’s standing.
The mighty club that it was, Kotoko has been reduced to ordinariness, and the minnows have had a go at it, breaking the club’s decades-long dominance in the domestic league.
On the international front, the club had tottered to the dismay of teeming local supporters, and to the astonishment of the game’s connoisseurs who think the continent’s excitement had boiled down with the fall of Kotoko.
