Bugri Naabu Betrayed Me -COP Alex Mensah

COP George Alex Mensah, a high-ranking police officer in the alleged plot to remove the Inspector General of Police(IGP), has revealed that he feels betrayed by Mr Bugri Naabu for recording their private conversation.

He said Mr Naabu’s actions amount to betrayal because what they discussed in trust was not meant for the public.

COP Mensah said this when he appeared before a parliamentary committee together with two other officers after being cited in the leaked tape recorded by Daniel Bugri Naabu, a former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“It is an act of betrayal because what you say must be the truth and might not be meant for everybody. It’s like telling your friend about your girlfriend, and he goes to tell your wife,” he explained. “That’s the truth, but it’s not meant for your wife”.

He had earlier refuted the authenticity of the content of the tape as he insisted it was doctored.

COP Mensah admitted that one of the voices in the audio was his but insisted the recording was not the true representation of what he said at the time.

“The audio that I listened to is the edited version of the conversation we had. There are things we discussed that are not in the tape,” he said.

He admitted to the Committee Chairman Samuel Atta Akyea that he had met Mr Bugri Naabu on four occasions, and they had conversations he described as personal but denied any plans to oust the IGP.
