Residents of Sefwi Boinzan in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region are struggling to come to terms with the death of a 33-year-old man following a violent confrontation near a community river.

The deceased, Theophilus Gyamfi, popularly known as Kwasi KK, was allegedly assaulted by twin brothers identified as Atta Kofi and Ebi Wom, both aged 28.

The incident occurred after Gyamfi reportedly went to the river to wash what residents described as gold-bearing material, an activity the community had been warned to avoid because of its impact on water sources.

According to the Assemblyman for the Boinzan Electoral Area, Aha Kojo Vincent, one of the twins who lives close to the river, approached Gyamfi and asked him to stop the activity.

Gyamfi is said to have resisted the instruction, leading to a heated exchange that soon drew the attention of the second twin.

What began as a verbal disagreement quickly turned physical.

The twins allegedly attacked Gyamfi, leaving him badly injured. Community members later assisted in taking him home in the hope that he would recover, but his condition worsened rapidly.

Following the incident, the two suspects reportedly fled the community. The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Juaboso Government Hospital mortuary as police begin investigations into the matter.

The death has reignited concerns about illegal activities along rivers in the area and the tensions they continue to create within communities.
