Broadcast corpse of COVID-19 patients on TV to prove its real – Bagbin

The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin, is advocating for a ‘fear campaign’ to push Ghanaians in line in the fight against the deadly novel coronavirus.

He wants dead bodies of COVID_19 patients shown on television.

“In fact, I want to see on TV some evidence of death because when you state that this number of people are dead but they {Ghanaians} are not seeing anything like that [it will not give them the shock of their life],” he said.

According to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Nadowli Kaleo, a lot of people are still living their lives as if everything was normal.

“I believe in the shock therapy. We need shock therapy to wake them up from slumber and make them know COVID-19 is real,” he argued.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, Mr. Bagbin said his call was based on feedback he had received from the public.

“Awareness creation, education, as a leader you must know the people you are leading well.”

“You cannot see God because God is spirit, it is not the same for this disease, they are not spirits. The most important thing is that the people we are leading, they want to see.” He said.

Mr. Bagbin believeD “shock therapy” is the sure way to help make people change from how they were responding to the threats posed by the disease.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ghana has risen to 6,096, with 31 deaths and 1,773 recoveries, according to the Ghana Health Service.
