Boxer Patrick Allotey handed six months suspension
The Ghana Boxing Authority(GBA) suspends a former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa super lightweight champion, Patrick Allotey for six months.
The 29-year-old, Patrick Allotey was suspended for assaulting a Kumasi Asante Kotoko fan on January 26 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
He was caught on camera assaulting a fan named Michael Siaw during the Super Clash between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak.
His victim Michael Siaw, had a cut in his left eye and is said to be recuperating steadily.
After the incident, the GBA disciplinary committee, in a letter, summoned the boxer to appear before the committee on Wednesday, February 5.
The disciplinary committee upon further investigations said the suspension takes effect from Thursday.
Mr Allotey, in September 2019, lost a world title fight against Mexican Jaime Mungua is already being investigated by the Ministry’s Police where he has been charged for assault.
Management of Mr Allotey, reacting to news of the suspension has said they will appeal the suspension calling it harsh.
