BoG postpones Cedi@60 national launch following tragic helicopter crash
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has announced the postponement of the national launch of the Cedi@60 Anniversary celebrations, which was originally scheduled for Friday, August 8, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
This decision follows the heartbreaking loss of five senior government officials and three members of the Ghana Armed Forces in a tragic military helicopter crash on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Bank expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and emphasised that, in light of this national tragedy, it is only appropriate to pause and honour the memory of those who lost their lives.
A new date for the event will be communicated in due course.
But the Bank of Ghana, in a statement, maintained that “we regret to announce that the launch has been postponed”
The Bank “extends its deepest condolences to His Excellency the President of the Republic, the Government and People of Ghana and the families of the departed.”
It added that “The Bank appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all its stakeholders and the general public during this period of national mourning”.
