The body of a 21-year-old Junior High School (JHS 3) student carried away by flood waters at Suame last week has been found.
Francisca Amoah Serwaa went missing after being swept away by flood waters at Breman UGC in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti region on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, after a downpour.
She was reportedly swept away after she attempted to pick up her sandals from the floodwater in front of her house.
After unsuccessful attempts by the residents to rescue her, the family reported the case to the police and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO).
The police, officers from NADMO and the residents searched for the body for days but were unsuccessful.
However, in an interview with Citi News, monitored by The Ghana Report, Nana Bonsu, the landlord of the deceased, said the body had been recovered.
He said a resident in Abuakwa Tabre in the Atwima Nwabiagya municipality saw a body in a stream in his community on Sunday.
The body was then retrieved and deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue after he alerted the police.
According to the landlord, the family was invited to identify the body.
Meanwhile, the family is collaborating with the police to conduct an autopsy before burial.
