Boamah: Akufo-Addo has done his best
Patrick Yaw Boamah, Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, has praised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his contributions to Ghana during his eight-year tenure.
Reflecting on the president’s efforts, Mr. Boamah acknowledged the challenges and successes that defined his leadership, expressing optimism that future generations would assess his legacy fairly.
“He’s done his best; posterity will judge him,” Mr. Boamah remarked in an interview with Citi News following Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address (SONA) on January 3, 2025.
In contrast, Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah harshly criticised Akufo-Addo’s administration, describing it as a reminder of ineffective governance.
Speaking in Parliament after the SONA, the Ellembelle MP accused the government of failing to deliver on promises and mishandling critical national issues, including the controversial National Cathedral project.
“You left out the account of your promise to God to build him a cathedral. But I will leave that between you and God,” Kofi Buah remarked.
He also slammed the government for its poor economic management, failure to address galamsey activities, and unfulfilled promises on corruption reforms.
While criticising the outgoing government, Mr. Kofi Buah offered hope for the future, urging confidence in the incoming administration led by John Dramani Mahama.
“Hope is on its way in President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC,” he stated.
Boamah, however, maintained his position that Akufo-Addo’s leadership should be remembered for its efforts to address key challenges, even in the face of difficulties.
