Blame gov’t for student’s vandalism – Paa Kwesi Nduom

The founder and Leader of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Paa Kwesi Nduom, has blamed the NPP government for the vandalization of school property by some angry final year students.

According to him, the government must take the blame for involving students in politics.

“I condemn the act of student insulting and attacking teachers as well as politicians,  but we should blame the sitting government by evolving these kids into politics, whereby NPP youth organiser assures the student of questions and easy pass.” He said.

With the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, final year students were asked to stay home for three months before going back to school.

The government in the wake to prepare students for the WASSCE purchased past questions for them.

Unfortunately, some of the students depended solely on past questions also known as ‘apor’.

But the examination questions differed from that of the past question.

Students of the Tweneboah Koadua SHS did not take kindly to the outcome of the Integrated Science examination and threatened to boycott their examinations. They also refused lunch and turned their dining hall on its head.

They also accused their headmaster of being too strict during the examination.

However, two days after their misconduct, students of Tweneboah Kodua SHS apologised for the incident and asked for forgiveness.

Their peers at the Ndewura Jakpa Senior High in the Savannah Region also protested the social distancing rules enforced by the school authorities.

They went on a vandalism spree, breaking louvres and other school property.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service has warned that it would not condone indiscipline in any school.

In a statement, It asked the school authorities to deal with recalcitrant students.
