Black Stars midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana set for Atalanta return
Ghana international Ibrahim Sulemana is a subject of interest from Serie A side Atalanta BC ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The midfielder is close to a return to the Bergamo-based club club with discussions between Atalanta and Cagliari progressing.
The two clubs are close to reaching an agreement for the transfer of the budding midfielder.
Sulemana was one of Cagliari’s standout performers in his debut season with them after joining from Hellas Verona following their promotion to the Italian top flight.
The 21-year-old started 16 games for the club in Serie A last season and made five substitute appearances. He scored two goals in the 2023/24 campaign for the club under Claudio Ranieri.
His performances for Cagliari earned him a maiden call-up to the Black Stars team for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Central African Republic in June.
He made his debut for Ghana, coming off the bench in the 4-3 win over CAR at the Baba Yara Stadium having been an unused substitute in the away win over Mali.
Signing for Atalanta would mean a return to the first Italian club he joined after leaving the shores of Ghana before enjoying spells with Verona and Cagliari.
