Black Stars intensify preparations as day three of pre-AFCON training concludes
The Black Stars of Ghana resumed training at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Thursday afternoon, intensifying their preparations for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Having initiated their camp in Kumasi on Tuesday, one day following the announcement of head coach Chris Hughton’s 27-man squad, the four-time AFCON champions engaged in two training sessions on both Tuesday and Wednesday. The team continued their rigorous preparation on Thursday.
Coach Chris Hughton, alongside his technical team, is diligently molding the squad for what promises to be a challenging venture in the group stages of the AFCON. Placed in Group B, Ghana is set to face formidable opponents Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.
Of particular interest is the second group-stage match against seven-time champions Egypt, a fixture capturing widespread attention across the continent.
Looking ahead, the Black Stars are scheduled to resume training on Friday as they gear up for a pre-AFCON friendly against Namibia on Monday, January 8. The strategic preparations aim to ensure Ghana’s competitive edge as they embark on their AFCON campaign.
