Black Galaxies coach Didi Dramani urges CAF to review CHAN qualifying format after Nigeria defeat

Mas Ud Didi Dramani has shared his concerns over the qualifying format for the African Nations Championship.

For the second successive qualifiers, the Black Galaxies faced the Super Eagles B of Nigeria for the tournament designed for players plying their trade on the continent.

On Saturday, the Black Galaxies fell short after losing 3-1 to their West African rivals and will now miss the tournament in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

According to Didi Dramani, the Black Galaxies coach, the continent’s football governing body needs to address the format of the qualifiers.

“Nigeria and Ghana meeting at this stage is an issue CAF must address. It’s important for the body to critically examine this and come up with a format that ensures the best for the continent,” he told reporters, as quoted by All Nigeria Soccer.

Despite calling for changes in the format, Dramani admitted Nigeria wanted it more than his team in the game on Saturday in Uyo.

“Nigeria showed much more hunger and did a lot of running. We gave away some key moments in the game, which turned out to be disastrous for us,” he added.

“After the first goal, the second can drain the strength and energy of a team because of the manner it was scored — not to mention the third goal.”
