Bimbilla chieftaincy clashes foiled; Municipal Security Council beefs up security
The Nanumba North Municipal Security Council has intensified security in Bimbilla over plans by late Nakpa Naa’s regent to enskin some sub-chiefs.
Municipal Chief Executive of the Area, Abdulai Yakubu in an interview with The Ghana Report revealed that the MUSEC was compelled to take prudent security measures upon gathering intelligence that there was going to be an enskinment of sub-chiefs by the late Napka Naa’s gate even though an earlier court ruling had nullified their rights to that.
The MCE further explained the move to enskin a sub chief by the opposition faction is contrary to the Supreme Court’s ruling, hence, the need to beef up security in the township.
There had been an existing dispute over who is the rightful chief of Bimbilla between the late Andani Dasaana and Nakpa Naa Salifu Dawuni over the last two decades.
Last year, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Bimbilla Naa Andani Dasaana as the rightful chief of Bimbilla.
A decision the late Nakpa Naa and his subordinates had refused to accept.
Two weeks ago, the Nakpa Naa’s gate went ahead to distribute cola nuts to some persons appointed to fill some sub chieftaincy vacancies.
But the Dasaana gate resisted saying any attempt by the Nakpa Naa’s family to enskin any chief will plunge the town into chaos.
Bimbilla and its adjoining communities have for some time enjoyed peace after earlier chieftaincy clashes claimed dozens of lives and property.
A joint team of Military and Police has been stationed in the area to prevent the enskinment of the supposed sub-chiefs.
“The move to enskin sub-chiefs by the opposition faction is contrary to the supreme court’s ruling, hence, the need to beef up security in the township”. The Nanumba North MCE explained.
