Big men too can lie – Omane Boamah on Otumfuo-Mahama row
Former Minister for Communications and Presidential Spokesperson under the erstwhile John Mahama administration, Edward Omane Boamah has subtly suggested that His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II may not have spoken truthfully when he suggested that he had to compel Ghana’s former President, John Mahama to relinquish power when he lost in the December 2016 elections.
The comments by the leader of the Ashanti Kingdom at the recently held UN General Assembly meeting has sparked off a political discussion with scores of party faithful of the two major political parties in Ghana, the NPP and NDC, either making political capital out of it or finding a way to discredit it.
While former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has rubbished the claims of the Ashanti leader, scores more in the governing NPP continue to run with the original narrative.
A former Communications Minister under the erstwhile Mahama has also added his voice to the ongoing row suggesting the king may have lied.
In two separate tweets, the former Communications Minister said, “Big men too can lie! Oh Ghana!” and “Ahead of election 2020 expect more lies against John Mahama.”
