Big Brother Naija winner now youth ambassador of Ogun State

After emerging the winner of Big Brother Naija lockdown edition 2020, Laycon has been made the ambassador for the Youth of Ogun State.

This new role was bestowed upon him by the Governor of the State, Dapo Abiodun.

As part of the deal, Laycon walked away with N5 million.

He also walked away with the keys to a three-bedroom bungalow.

Laycon took to his Instagram page to announce his latest ambassadorial deal saying: “Meet the latest Ambassador for Youth for Ogun state bestowed upon me by his excellency, the Governor of Ogun state @dapoabiodunmfr”.

But many Nigerians seem unhappy about the goodies which were added to the deal.

This is because the donation to Laycon weeks after dozens of Ogun State retirees protested over non-payment of their gratuities by the government.

The retirees, under the banner of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), said retired state workers are being owed gratuities from 2014 to date, while local government retirees also owed from 2011 to date.

The state workers also recently embarked on a one-week warning strike over the refusal of the government to implement the new national minimum wage.

The state is also owing law school students their bursary.

Reacting to the appointment of Laycon on Tuesday, several youths on social media accused Mr Abiodun of misplacement of priorities.

Some also wondered why the government “cares less about some universities’ best graduating students.”
