The Asokore Mampong District Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of three persons who allegedly assaulted President of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s Student Representative Council.

The three, Anokye Bernard, Adongo Kennedy and Stephen Oppong Nkrumah, all alumni of the Continental Hall of the University were part of the five-member gang who allegedly assaulted the SRC President, Adu- Baah Charles at Kotei.

Speaking to Citi News the lawyer of the accused, Benjamin Andoh said he is considering an out of court settlement.

“On the charge sheet, there are three other individuals who the prosecution is indicating that they cannot trace them so they applied through the court for a bench warrant for the arrest of these accused persons who are now at large. So the court has granted that application for a bench warrant. They have been charged with the account of assault; one that is not a felony so whilst they are on bail, we are going to make frantic efforts to reach the complainant to see whether we can promote reconciliation among them.”

The SRC President, Adu-Baah Charles said he was attacked by some persons he identified as alumni of the University at Kotei, a community closer to the University.

According to him, he was slapped several times.

In a letter written by the SRC President and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, the SRC President mentioned the names of four national service persons and one final year student as the suspects.

The letter mentioned Anokye Benard, Owusu Afriyie Godfred, Adongo Kennedy, Antwi Samuel Poakwa (Final year student) and Stephen Oppong Nkrumah.
