(Video) Becca graduates as Over All Best Student at UPSA

Rebecca Acheampong Sanni Daniels, popularly known as Becca, graduated as the best student from the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) on Tuesday, 30 August 2022.

The singer graduated as a valedictorian with a 3.92 GPA.

Valedictorian is the student usually having the highest rank in a graduating class who delivers the valedictory address.

Becca studied Master’s in Brands and Communication after a long hiatus from the music scene.

Delivering her valedictory address for the first session of the 14th Congregation of UPSA, the teary singer said, “I am sorry, I told myself I wasn’t going to cry, but I can’t help it because when I started this course, I told myself I don’t want to be an ordinary student, that I want to leave here with merit”.

“And so I am really honored to be here …I stand here before you as a testament and confirmation that if you can dare to dream, you can surely have it….” Becca said.

 

Becca is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and actress.

She first gained recognition as a contestant on the second season of TV3’s annual singing competition, Mentor.

Her debut studio album Sugar was released in 2007. It earned her five nominations at the 2008 Ghana Music Awards. The album’s lead single, You Lied to Me, won Record of the Year at the aforementioned awards show.

Becca released her second studio album, Time 4 Me, on 16 May 2013.

It features guest appearances from 2face Idibia, MI, King Ayisoba, Trigmatic, Jay Storm, and Akwaboah. The album was certified 2× platinum in Ghana. Becca’s accolades include one Kora Award, one National Youth Achievers Award, four Ghana Music Awards, and three 4Syte TV Music Video Awards.

Becca bags Master's degree from UPSA as valedictorian

In 2013, she headlined the annual Girl Talk concert, which started in 2011. Becca was ranked 94 on E.tv Ghana’s 2013 list of the 100 most influential people in Ghana.

In March 2021, she was among the Top 30 Most Influential Women in Music by 3Music Awards Women Brunch. She has worked with foreign artists such as Hugh Masakela and MI Abaga.

Becca is married to Nigerian entrepreneur and artist manager Oluwatobi Sanni Daniel; the couple’s wedding was held on 18 August 2018 in Accra. She has one child, a baby girl.
