The Member of Parliament for Assin Central is reported to have made some very disparaging comments about the former President, John Dramani Mahama, with reference to the murder of J.B. Danquah Adu, former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North.
In a publication on homeradionews.com, he was said to have made these disparaging remarks about the former president on his TV station in response to one Ekow Kelvin Taylor on allegations that he Kennedy Agyapong had a hand in the murder of the late MP.
The Member for Assin Central has gained notoriety for making comments and walking away over the years. It is about time his attention is called to respect the image and credibility of others in the political space he always takes advantage to abuse.
It is important to draw his attention to the fact that the former president is no mean a person, had committed a greater part of his life to public service, discharged his duties creditably, and must be respected as such.
The penchant to always robe him into discussions that have no bearing whatsoever on him is unfortunate and would not be countenanced going forward.
It must be pointed to the Member for Assin Central that if he has any evidence to the effect that the unresolved murder of J.B. Danquah has the remotest contribution from the former president, as a citizen of the land, he should proceed to lodge official complaints to have the former President answering to these wild allegations.
It is irresponsible to consistently deviate from substance and to attack the personality of the former president who has proven civil in his public discourse over the years.
It is time to step foot and to deal with such unsubstantiated allegations that have been the stock in trade for the honourable Member for the people of Assin Central. Ghana is a democratic state, and the rights of others must be upheld with civility, not least, that of the former president, John Dramani Mahama.
