‘Be mindful of the friends you keep’ – Delay draws lessons from Moesha’s leaked tape

Television personality and businesswoman Deloris Frimpong Manso, popularly known as Delay, has reacted to the goings-on with regards to the problems of the social media sensation and actress, Moesha Boduong, who is affectionately referred to by her first name.

According to Delay, Moesha’s mental state wouldn’t have been a subject in the public domain but for the kind of friends Moesha kept.

“We all should learn from Moesha’s issue and be mindful of the friend we keep around. You hardly hear people engaged in social vices and say they were introduced to it by their parents or sibling, it is always a friend,” Delay said on her eponymous TV show.

“I must say that all my problems in this life are generated from the kind of friends I kept in the past, so as they say in church, I am using Moesha as a point of contact to entreat us all to be careful” she added.

Moesha has been in the news for a few weeks after she announced her decision to become a born-again Christian.

She had revealed in a viral video that she nearly committed suicide and has sold all her belongings. This revelation sparked debate on social media as some users questioned his mental state.

A few weeks later, an audio conversation between Moesha’s supposed personal assistant, Samuel Nelson, and actress Salma Mumin surfaced on the internet.

In the conversation, the PA alleged among other things that Moesha was into drugs and was having amorous relationships with married men. According to Nelson, Moesha confession to being a born-again Christian in June 2021 was borne out of the fear of losing her life.

“She was to go to Nigeria to see her senator boyfriend but she missed her flight. So, she was calling the boyfriend on a video call and she saw the man with blood all over him like occult stuff, so out of fear she ended the call,” Nelson alleged.

“The man called her and told her not to tell anyone but Moesha can’t keep her mouth shut,” he continued.

“She deserves everything she is going through for the bad and wicked things she has done to me and any other person,” Nelson said.

But in a sharp response to the audio and all other comments passed on Moesha’s mental state, a statement, purported to be from the family of Moesha, said:

Everybody has a past, a present, and a future. We have all lived lives that depending on the ‘friends’ or ‘people’ around you, can positively or negatively influence your life. Some have lived high lives, and others have lived practical lives…We believe Moesha has the right to a ‘new beginning in Christ’ and a chance to make right her life. We are pleading with all persons to please allow her time from gossip, bad-mouthing, social media bickering, and negative talking to find herself. We support the decision she has taken and will support her in any positive way to help her find her real self.

The letter was circulated on social and on news portals at the end of July. The statement denied that Moesha’s individuals was soliciting funds on social media to support the beleaguered actress.

“No persons have been authorized to solicit funds to support her or on behalf of the family. However, the family is extremely grateful to everyone who reached out genuinely to help,” the statement said.

Nelson is also said to be unknown to the family of Moesha who asked the media to respect her privacy.

“We further note with disappointment an audio recording circulating on social media purported to be her brother. We condemn the contents of the recording and state categorically that it is not her brother. The supposed Nelson is not a known relative of the family,” added the statement.
