A spokesperson for Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s 2024 campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has announced that Dr. Bawumia will only participate in the upcoming presidential debates organized by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) if former President John Dramani Mahama also takes part.
The IEA has scheduled the first presidential debate for October 22, 2024, with the second set for November 19, 2024.
Additionally, the IEA plans to hold a vice-presidential debate on November 5, 2024, and five evening encounters leading up to the December 7 elections, starting on September 18 and concluding on October 15.
In an interview, Mr Aboagye emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s eagerness to engage in a substantive debate on national issues.
However, he insisted that the presence of John Mahama is essential for a balanced and comprehensive discussion.
He argued that without Mahama, the debate would lack significance, as the December elections are expected to be a direct contest between Bawumia and Mahama.
