Bawumia will be NPP’s strongest hope in 2028 – Bentil
Kofi Bentil, Vice President of IAMNI Africa, believes Dr Mahamudu Bawumia remains the best choice to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the next general election.
Despite facing significant apathy and internal resistance in the 2024 polls, Dr Bawumia still managed to secure 41 percent of the total votes.
Bentil shared his thoughts in a social media post, pointing out that Bawumia’s ability to pull such numbers under difficult conditions proves his strength as a candidate.
He wrote, “It’s actually interesting to realize that despite the deep anger and disaffection from all sides, including NPP members not voting, DMB got 41%. I have no doubt he will be the strongest candidate in the next election”.
On August 28, Dr Bawumia publicly reaffirmed his commitment to lead both his party and the country, expressing a strong desire to continue serving Ghana.
In a heartfelt speech, he reflected on the sacrifices he has made for the NPP and Ghana over the years, including giving up high-profile positions to support the party.
He also called on NPP members to unite behind his leadership as he prepares for another presidential bid in 2028.
Dr Bawumia said his political journey has always been about service and loyalty, and he remains ready to give his all to rebuild the party and move the country forward.
