Bawumia engaging in linguistic acrobatics; he knows nothing about economic management – Kwakye Ofosu
NDC Parliamentary candidate for the Abura Asebu Kwamankese constituency, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has accused the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of engaging in linguistic stunts with regards to the management of the Ghanaian economy.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu argues, the Vice President as the head of the economic management team has failed woefully at his job.
“In opposition Dr. Bawumia told us that, when the fundamentals of your economy are weak the exchange rate will expose you, he even went further to say, the exchange rate is the most important indicator of economic performance then when he came into power and the Ghana cedis took a catastrophic tumble, he changed and told us, it is possible for the exchange rate to be weak and still have strong fundamentals and that is linguistic acrobatics stemming from being caught out as being flatfooted in the management of the economy” he said on Citi TV.
According to the former Deputy Communication Minister, many expected the Vice President to show candor and honesty and admit that claims he made in the past were erroneous.
“Look at his treatment of our public debt, the noise, the song and dance that he made out of our public debt claiming that the NDC has reduced governance to borrowing and that they will borrow less and do more,” Kwakye Ofosu recounted.
The former Deputy Communication Minister said, the NPP in the last 3-years has added GHC 84 billion to the National debt and borrowed over GHC140billion with little to nothing to show for.
“Their Capital expenditure to GPD is less than 1% according to the mid-year budget review while during the NDC time ours was between 5% to 6% so that is the clearest indication that very things that they said in opposition they have tremble upon in government,” he said.
