Bawku again! 13-year-old boy killed in brutal attack

Tragedy has struck the town of Bawku once again, as a 13-year-old boy, identified as Sherif, was brutally murdered while tending to livestock near the old cattle market.

This heartbreaking incident brings the total number of reported deaths in the area to 42 since October 2024, amidst prolonged conflicts fuelled by territorial and ethnic disputes.

According to local sources, Sherif was grazing his animals in a presumed safe area when unknown assailants ambushed him, violently snapped his neck, and left him lifeless.

The attackers also stole his livestock, with the motive for the attack remaining unclear.

The body of the deceased was retrieved and transported to Kpalugu, a nearby suburb of Bawku, where he was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic traditions.
