Azumah Nelson Chalks 65

Ghana’s Boxing Legend and international icon of the sport, ”Barima Professor”  Azumah Nelson marked his 65th birthday today. He was born on 19 July 1958 in Accra.

The Former WBC Featherweight and Super Featherweight Champion delighted Ghanaians and charmed the world with outstanding pugilism. He reliably defeated his opponents, first with the 1983 win over Mexican Wilfredo Gomez to open the international chapter of his career.

Azumah Nelson who was promoted by the Las Vegas-based Don King, is a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
