Attorney General to request for daily hearings of NAM1’s fraud case
Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah Yeboah has announced that the Attorney General’s office will be applying for a daily hearing of NAM 1’s trial.
The Deputy A-G made this known on Tuesday, September 19, after an Accra High Court granted bail to the defunct Menzgold CEO Nana Appiah Mensah, also known as NAM 1.
“We are of the humble opinion that this is a matter that we must apply to the courts for an expedited hearing, so at the case management we will put in that application and request to the court, subject to the court’s convenience to having this matter heard on daily basis,” he said.
The embattled Menzgold CEO is currently facing 39 fresh charges at the Accra High Court. He has since pleaded not guilty to the said charges.
The latest charges include but are not limited to selling gold, operating a deposit-taking business without a license, inducement to invest, defrauding by false pretense, fraudulent breach of trust, and money laundering.
