The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has made a cash donation of GH₵10,000 to support the family of the late Christian Atsu.
The party’s General Secretary Justin Kodua was accompanied by the National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, the Nasara coordinator Aziz Haruna Futah and other officials to make the donation.
The NPP stalwarts were at the family home of the Ghana international footballer to show support following his passing after being a casualty of a devastating earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria on February 6, killing more than 44,000 people in both countries.
Atsu was confirmed dead on Saturday, February 18, after being under the rubble for 12 days.
His remains touched down in Ghana over the weekend and was received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration as well as the family.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has assured the family that the government will work together with them to give the father of three a befitting burial.
Meanwhile, the one-week observation has been scheduled for March 4.
