Ato Forson ‘blasts’ Ursula for neglecting parliamentary duties for Qatar
A ranking member of Parliament’s Finance Committee, Cassiel Ato Forson, has slammed government officials who are not prioritising the ongoing 2023 budget debate in Parliament.
Mr Forson, also the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam legislator, has called out his colleague MPs who appear to be having fun in Qatar amid economic hardships in Ghana.
According to him, the act does not augur well for the country, especially when the inputs of such persons are needed in the discussion and approval of the 2023 budget.
In a post on his Twitter page, Dr Forson said the decision by some officials to go to Qatar to be part of the ongoing FIFA World Cup sends the wrong signals to Ghanaians.
At a time of serious economic crisis, Cabinet Ministers and MPs should not abandon the important business of budget consideration to go and watch football in Qatar!
The optics are bad! We need to show we are serious about resolving the crisis! pic.twitter.com/bhG2Dz3NvG— Cassiel Ato Forson(PhD) (@Cassielforson) November 30, 2022
His comment comes after videos of Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, MP for Ablekuma West, surfaced on social media dancing after Ghana beat South Korea on Monday.
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful doubles as the Minister of Communications and Digitalisation.
