Atletico Madrid to sign Mallorca’s Iddrisu Baba as Partey’s replacement

Reports indicate that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid is considering the signing of Mallorca midfielder Baba Iddrisu as the perfect replacement for Thomas Partey should he leave the club this summer.

Thomas Partey’s recent form for the Rojiblancos in both Spanish La Liga and the Uefa Champions League has rated him as one of the most sought after, with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, PSG, Juventus, as well as Inter Milan leading the pace.

The 25-year-old midfielder is likely to make a switch this summer when the transfer window reopens with English Premier League being the preferred destination.

Atletico on the other hand is looking for a possible replacement and having their signing radar on Partey’s compatriot Baba Iddrisu whose exploits have attracted interests from some of Europe’s giants as well.

Iddrisu, 24 is already on 25 appearance for the Wanda Metropolitano side, four times ahead of Partey and starting in all games before the suspension of the league due to the COVID-19 world pandemic.

Under contract at Mallorca until 2024, Iddrisu’s explosive output in the Spanish La Liga for the Vicente Moreno’s side earned him a call-up to play for his national team, the Black Stars of Ghana.
