At least five herdsmen wounded after machete fight
At least five (5) nomadic herdsmen have sustained severe machete wounds after they engaged in a brutal machete fight.
The incident happened at Akateng a Community near Asesewa in the Eastern Region.
Confirming the incident to theghanareport.com, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police command, Sergeant Francis Gomado, said a misunderstanding broke out in the community leading to the brutal fight.
Four victims have been identified as Omaru Ali, 25; Bello Aliu, 24; Omaru Ali, 25, and Mohamadu Moro, 28 suffered various cutlasses wounds.
According to the police, no arrests have been made yet.
“When we got to the scene, because of the nature of the injuries, we had to put lives first. So, we are investigating the incident. The suspects were taken to the hospital and fortunately are responding to treatment,” Sergeant Gomado told theghanareport.com.
Describing the nature of injuries, Sergeant Gomado said Omaru Bello’s right wrist was chopped off while Belo Ali was inflicted with a deep cut on the forehead.
Another victim, Mohamadu Moro had his throat slashed with a machete.
Sergeant Gomado said the cause of the brutalities are not yet known, but gave the assurance that the police would do all within its power to unravel the cause of the incident and arrest the perpetrators.
He said, but for the timely intervention of the Asesewa police, the bloody machete fight would have escalated.
He told theghanareport.com that the suspects were seen lying in a pool of blood and immediately conveyed to the Asesewa Government Hospital.
