The Ghana Association of Assembly Members (GAAM) has called on the Local Government Ministry to speed up the payment process for their ex-gratia.
The National President of the association, Frank Nelson Ackah made this passionate appeal during a press conference at Sehwi Essam in the Bia West District of the Western North Region.
According to Mr. Nelson Ackah, the government has not paid them their ex-gratia for the past seven months since the inauguration of the new assembly.
He emphasized that they are entitled to it in accordance with Section 11(2) of the Local Governance Act.
Moreover, the association proposes the establishment of an Electoral Area Fund, for assembly members, charged to the District Assembly Common Fund.

He also suggested that a law must be enacted to enable assembly members to carry out developmental projects with strict auditing and supervision.
The president also appealed for monthly allowances and motorbikes for their members, to enable them to carry out their duties effectively.
