Assin Dansame: Police commander assaulted and bathed with hot soup
Four notorious residents of Assin Dansame in the Assin North District of the Central region have attacked the district commander and some police officers in the area.
The criminals also poured soup on the officers staining them completely while others had their faces thrust in the substance with mild burns.
The unlawful incident happened Thursday evening when Assin Praso police received a distressed call from Assin Dansame that one Richard Kwame Frimpong, Fredrick Frimpong Alias Cobby ,Yaw Sarfo, Kweku Amankrah and four other irate youth at Assin Dansame who went into hiding when cases of causing harm, offensive conduct and assault were reported against them.
A Few hours later, the four resurfaced on the streets of Assin Dansame wielding locally manufactured pistols, cutlasses, clubs and other weapons threatening to harm whoever would attempt to obstruct their actions thereby instilling fear and panic among other inhabitants and motorists.
On receipt of the information, a team of police officers led by the district police commander, Supt. Tetteh Isaac proceeded to Assin Dansame where the named suspects took to their heels on seeing police and took cover in a room nearby but were pursued.
The police were, however, able to overpower and arrest the four: Yaw Sarfo,42, Kweku Amankrah,66, Richard Kwame Frimpong,33 and Frederick Frimpong, 22 to assist with investigations after they had inflicted pains on the officers.
The occupants of the house in which the suspects were harboured obstructed and pelted stones on the police while a lady yet to be identified bathed the police commander with hot soup.
Public relations officer of the central regional police command, Irene Serwaa Oppong who confirmed the incident to The Ghana Report condemned the incident adding the police administration would swiftly carry out a thorough investigation to ensure the culprits face due prosecution.
