A shocking incident has unfolded in the Central Region, where the assemblyman for Kyekyerwere East, Kwabena Boateng, has allegedly shot and killed a 16-year-old and a 20-year-old.

The incident reportedly happened around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, 21 August 2024, at the assemblyman’s shop.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident ensued when Boateng, watching over his shop, spotted three suspects attempting to break in.

Upon seeing them, he fired in their direction, hitting two of the suspects while the third escaped.

According to the assemblyman, he decided to be on guard after he realized some of his cocoa bags had been stolen.

“I had been on high alert for some time after 35 bags of cocoa were stolen from my shop,” Boateng said.

“When I saw them trying to break in, I fired in their direction, not realizing they were young people.”

Unfortunately, one of the victims died at the scene, while the other passed away en route to the hospital.

Footage of the incident shows residents moving around the scene, with the victims’ bodies lying on the floor.

Some residents could be heard lamenting the teenager’s involvement.

“This is a senseless killing,” said one resident.

“A 16-year-old boy is dead, and for what? Cocoa?” another witness lamented.

Boateng has since been arrested and is currently in police custody, assisting with the investigation.
