The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has filed the presidential nomination forms of its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, to enable him to contest the December 7 general election.

Mr Mahama’s forms were submitted to the Electoral Commission (EC) by the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, on Monday, September 9.

Mr Asiedu Nketia was accompanied by the General Secretary of the NDC Fifi Kwetey, the Director of IT and Elections of the NDC Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and other key party executives.

Speaking during the filing of the nomination, Asiedu Nketiah raised concerns about the ongoing electoral process and urged the Commission to fulfil its role as a neutral body.

“From our rounds, there are all indications that change is in the air, and so we just crave your indulgence to secure the peace of the country before, during, and after the elections. We wish to urge the Commission to also play its role as a neutral arbiter.

“And so, we are hopeful that the Commission will listen carefully and discharge its responsibilities in a manner that is satisfactory to all participating parties,” he said.

On her part, the Chair of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Jean Adukwei Mensa assured that the process for the conduct of the general elections will be peaceful, transparent, and fair.
