Asian man’s voter card photoshopped – EC

The Electoral Commission has denied issuing a voter’s ID card to an Asian man as being suggested on social media.

“It has been photo-shopped to superimpose the image of the Asian male onto the face of card. The commission did not issue the card to the Asian male.

“The card was originally issued to Nana Kweku Okai Brako. All of the photographs on the EC Voters ID cards have a blue background. In the photo-shopped ID card, the background of the photograph with the Asian male is cream,” the commission said in a statement.

The commission’s response comes after a new voter’s identification card circulating on social media bears the photograph of an Asian male with the identification number–2809012504.

The commission explained that the image on the said ID card is altered and was originally issued to a Ghanaian male.

The commission has, therefore, called on the public to disregard it.

Investigations have also begun to determine the perpetrators behind the falsehood.

The photo is one of many social media controversies the EC has been responding to in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

There was an earlier picture circulating where the EC had captured the wrong date of birth of a 32-year-old Ghanaian male.

His year of birth was captured as 1702 instead of his original date; January 1, 1988.
