A/R: One dead in head-on collision at Adansi Akrokerri Junction

A tragic head-on collision at the Adansi Akrokerri Junction in the Ashanti Region has claimed the life of one person.

The accident, which occurred on Tuesday, December 2, involved a Hyundai minivan and a Hyundai truck.

According to sources, the minivan, registered AS 8655-20, attempted to overtake another vehicle but collided directly with the oncoming truck, registered AS 3948-24. The impact was fatal, killing the minivan driver instantly.

A rescue team from the Fomena Fire Station, led by LFM Boateng, arrived promptly at the scene and managed to extricate the deceased driver.

The body was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.

Two occupants of the truck sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care.

The collision also caused significant damage to both vehicles, with the truck veering off the road and landing in a nearby ditch.

The Ghana National Fire Service has taken the opportunity to remind motorists of the dangers of reckless overtaking.

A spokesperson said, “Road safety must be taken seriously. Reckless driving and overtaking continue to claim lives unnecessarily”.

The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Office has officially reported the incident.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision as they urge drivers to observe traffic rules strictly to prevent further tragedies.
