Asante Kotoko’s Kwesi Appiah reveals approach ahead of Ghana Premier League resumption
Interim Management Committee member (IMC) of Asante Kotoko, James Kwesi Appiah has emphasized the need to learn from their mistakes and ward off complacency ahead of the resumption of the Ghana Premier League.
The Premier League bounces back this weekend and Kotoko will travel to face Heart of Lions in the week 18 fixture.
The Porcupine Warriors after a shambolic start to the campaign, improved tremendously to finish third in the first half of the domestic top-flight campaign.
According to Appiah, his outfit is not keen on winning the league since the life patron of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II wants them to build a team for the future.
“From the middle part of the first round up to the end, the team was performing well because they’ve now gotten to know themselves well. We didn’t start the season on a good note but we will learn from our mistakes and ward off complacency and make sure we go all out in the second round”
“I will not say that we will win the league, if we win it’s a plus but nothing spoils if we don’t win because Otumfuo wants us to build a team towards the future”
Meanwhile, the Ghanaian giants have clinched their first title of the season after beating Nsoatreman FC 2-1 to win the maiden J. A Kufuor Cup last Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
