A daring robbery occurred at a forex bureau at Abeka Lapaz, a suburb of Accra, on Friday afternoon.
According to eyewitnesses, two armed men stormed the cash point, demanding that all monies be handed over to them.
However, in a remarkable display of bravery, bystanders quickly sprang into action, locking all persons inside the bureau and calling the police.
The police responded swiftly to the distress call, arriving at the location in minutes.
However, in a shocking twist, the robbers were nowhere to be found when the police accessed the building.
“I was shocked when the police came in and the robbers were gone,” said one eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous.
“We were all convinced that they were locked inside.”
The Forex Bureau, located near Las Palmas, is said to operate under tight security.
However, management has yet to formally comment on the incident.
Videos from the scene have since gone viral on social media, with many Ghanaians expressing shock and outrage at the bold attempt.
The police are currently investigating the incident.
