Armed robbers have shot and killed a University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) student during a field trip.
In a statement confirming the incident, the school management said the attack happened near Boffourkrom in the Sunyani West Municipality, Bono Region.
It said the level 300 and 400 BSc Renewal Energy Engineering students were returning from a field trip to the Bui Power Authority when the robbers attacked.
“Tragically, one student lost his life as a result of the incident. The family of the deceased has been notified. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time”.

“The remaining students have received medical treatment and have been discharged and are currently going through the necessary counselling,” the statement said.
The management of UENR added that the Sunyani Police command has so far arrested one suspect.
They further urged the residents of the area to inform the police about any suspicious character to facilitate the arrest of the others.
