The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of scheduled and emergency maintenance activities throughout various regions this week, leading to temporary power outages in numerous communities.
In the Greater Accra Region, the Tema Region will face considerable disruptions. On Sunday, February 22, from 9:00am to 3:00pm, the impacted areas include “Fennice, Saglemi, Metal, Lakpleku, Housing, RSG, Rainbow Paints, Bundase Military Training Camp, TT Brothers, Macbaron Charllets, Zonda Trucks and surrounding areas.”
The following day, Monday, February 23, customers in “Leisure Hours, Nungua Zongo, Royal Park, Blue Blue, Kpeshie Divisional Headquarters, Coco Beach and surrounding areas” will experience outages from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
On Tuesday, February 24, the same time frame will witness outages in “Kpong, Odumase, Nuaso, Agormeda, Kojonya, Comm. 19 Annex, Lashibi, Klagon and surrounding areas.”
The schedule for the region concludes on Thursday, February 26, with a planned outage from 9:00am to 3:00pm for “GCB Training School, Buade, Kokobribri, Royal Ravico, Junction Mall, Watch Tower, Alton Hotel, Regimanuel Estates, Queensland Int. Sch., Old Ningo, New Ningo and surrounding areas.”
The Accra East Region has a busy week of maintenance ahead. On Sunday, February 22, an emergency maintenance operation will occur from 9:00am to 3:00pm, affecting “Electro Volta house and surrounding areas.” Monday, February 23, will feature a planned outage from 9:00am to 5:00pm for “Teiman, Ga East Hospital, Boshe Norman, and surrounding areas”.
On Tuesday, February 24, the same time slot will impact “Santana Market, Ayikuma, Doryumu, Kodeabe, and surrounding areas.” Wednesday, February 25, will bring another planned shutdown from 9:00am to 5:00pm for “La Cemetery, Parts of Burma Camp, Twumasiwaa Hospital, Dzen Ayor, Ability, and surrounding areas.”
Finally, on Thursday, February 26, a maintenance exercise from 9:00am to 5:00pm will impact “Lakeside Estate Com. 6 & 8, New Legon, Block factory (East Legon), Sasaabi Township, Mensah Bar, and surrounding areas.”
In the Accra West Region, an emergency maintenance operation is planned for Sunday, February 22, from 9:00am to 5:00pm, which will affect “Latter Day Saint HQS, Ghana Immigration Service, Alisa Hotel, Swiss Embassy, WAEC, and surrounding areas”.
The scheduled maintenance for the week will commence on Monday, February 23, from 9:00am to 5:00pm, impacting “Abedi Pele Park, Dunyo, and surrounding areas.”
On Tuesday, February 24, the outage during the same hours will affect “Red Top, Old Barrier, New Aplaku, Eden Height, Kings University, Alogboshie, Achimota Neoplan, Benjilo, and Surroundings areas.” On Wednesday, February 25, power interruptions will occur for “Akweteyman, New Bortianor, Red top, and surrounding areas.”
The schedule for the week in the region wraps up on Thursday, February 26, with a power outage from 9:00am to 5:00pm affecting “Katapor, Edusa, Tetegu, White cross, Doblo, Hebron, Medie, Sarpeiman, satellite, John Teye, Fountain Gate chapel, Franko Estate, Ecobloc and surrounding areas”.
Additionally, the Central Region has two days earmarked for maintenance. On Monday, February 23, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, the outage will impact “Saltpond Zongo, Kurankyekrom, Kormantse, Abandze, Parts of Anomabo, Ekurabadze, Asafora and surrounding areas.” A more extensive maintenance operation is scheduled for Thursday, February 26, during the same hours.
This will affect “Abonko, Anokyí, Henii, Nananom junction, Roman hospital, Bafikrom, Greenwood, New Nkusukum, Krampakrom, Inshalahu, Saltpond Zongo, Kurankyekrom, Kormantse, Abandze, Parts of Anomabo, Ekurabadze, Asafora and surrounding areas.” In the Ashanti Region, an emergency maintenance operation is planned for Sunday, February 22, from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
This will impact “Barekese Headworks, Ahenkro, Kodie, Aduamoa, Aduman, Seidi, Nkawie, Afari, Toase, Gyankobaah, Kasaprako, Sepaase, Hiawu Besease, Edwanfo, Abuakwa Maakro, Tetrem and surrounding areas.”
A scheduled maintenance operation will also occur on Tuesday, February 24, from 9:00am to 4:00pm, affecting “Agona Municipal Assembly, Agona Police Station, Agona Zongo, Bipoa Town, Bodomase, Afamaso, and surrounding areas.”
The ECG added that these operations are essential for enhancing service delivery and has expressed regret for “the inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise”.
